It’s Playoff Season

The leaves are falling.  There’s a chill in the air, and if you live in Michigan, there’s also drizzle!  All this is a sign that it’s Playoff Season!  Friday night I was fortunate enough to be able to shoot at Kelly/Short’s Stadium on the CMU campus.  Because Mt Pleasant High School was playing a Football playoff game of their own at home, Sacred Heart Academy moved it’s game with Merrill to the stadium.  What a great place for a high school playoff football game.  Heck, they even had the head official mic’ed up.  The game itself was very entertaining.  Sacred Heart got itself into the Red Zone twice in the first quarter, but came away with a measly 3 points.  It wasn’t until the third quarter, down my more than a TD, that the Heart found it’s stride.  They scored the first three times they touch the ball, aided by a punt muff in the endzone that they recovered for a score.  After winning the State Championship last year, it appeared in the first quarter that Sacred Heart had lost it’s Championship swagger.  By the fourth quarter they had found it, blowing the game wide open.  Hopefully, they will be able to start the game with it next week when they travel south to play Fowler.  You can view more pictures from this game here.

On Saturday I shoot at the D3 Cross Country Regional in Carson City.  Pictured above is Shepherd High School’s Sophomore, Kaylie Rhynard finishing first at the meet.  Kaylie is quite the athlete.  She was a Hockey Goalie on a boy’s team up until her freshmen year.  That year she participated in four high school sports, starting as a catcher on the varsity softball team and running Track in the spring. This next Saturday, she’ll be running with her team in the State Finals at MIS in Brooklyn, Michigan.  Kaylie will be looking to improve on her State Medaling 11th place finish from last year.  You can view more pictures from this D3 Race here.
