Fall is in the Air!

Here’s a shot of Shepherd’s offense getting ready to run a few plays at the onset of their scrimmage at Alma College.  Alma College has brand new turf and the Jays got to take part in breaking it in.  The weather was a little warm for football, but you could feel that Fall was upon us. I wasn’t able to stay long, but from what I saw the offensive is capable of stretching the field vertically!  Then there was Coach Ross!  He had the sound of Motivation going from the time the team stepped on the field.  The Varsity opens up the 2011 campaign this Friday in Gladwin against the Flying G’s.

Tuesday (today as I write this), another Fall activity got underway.  Following a very successful year in 2010, boy’s and girl’s cross country teams opened their season at the Chippewa Hills Invitational.

Kaylie Rhynard (sophomore) lead the Lady Jays to a first place finish (in the small schools division) out of 8 teams.  Kaylie finished the year strong last Fall and looks like she’s picking up from where she ended.  The Boy’s team are very young this year, but still had a good showing finishing 4th.  Times and places from the meet will be available here.  At the time of writing this blog, the results had not been posted yet.
