Auditorium Dedication

"Cutting of the Ribbon"

Cutting of the Ribbon

Last night was a long awaited, monumental event in the history of the Shepherd community.  The new auditorium was officially opened.  Walking into the facility, it was impossible to imagine that it was once a quaint gym with a stage.  It is absolutely beautiful!  The Shepherd ‘FACTS‘ committee worked hard the last couple of years, pushing the community to support this building project.   And, the community responded!  In my 35 years in Shepherd, we have tried many proposals that failed.  But the wait was definitely worth it.  The ‘new’ Shepherd schools are first rate.  Young people that pass through our doors have had the limits to their dreams removed!  The sky is now the limit.

Band and Choir on Stage

The program included performances by the Choir and Band.  The lighting set the mood for their performances, and the speaker system didn’t disappoint. The auditorium was filled with beautiful music.

Mr Gross MC’d the event adding his usual entertaining banter.  He also put together a couple of slide shows.  One ran at the beginning of the program, but he saved the best for the end.  The program closed with a slide show that Mr Gross used to show who we are as a community.  He related a personal story that contained a casual conversation he had with the late, Jim Bush, during an earlier phase of construction.  Between the story and pictures, there was hardly a dry eye in the house.

The next big event to put on your calendars will be a production by the Drama Club in April.  The play is set, and the cast has been chosen.  Mrs McLoughlin will have more information out soon.
