Dawn Beach Workout.

I was fortunate to be invited (to drive) to Shepherd Varsity’s football season opening Beach Camp at Harbor Beach, MI (tip of the thumb).  The picture above was what the team saw arriving to the beach for their first, official workout of the season.  On Sunday, Aug 11, the team left the high school in 5 vans and multiple RVs and drove 2.5 hours to the tip of the thumb (Harbor Beach).  Upon arrival they were treated a huge dinner by Coach Creguer’s Aunt and Uncle.  Following the dinner, the team met upstairs of ‘mess hall’ for their first meeting.  In this ‘Team’ building meeting, Coach Creguer had the athletes choose a term that would describe what they, as individual would bring to this year’s team.  They then wrote that term on every team member’s shirt.

The next morning, the team was up, out of bed before 5 am for 1.6 mile run to the beach.  Once there, they went through about an hour workout, in the sand, before sunrise at 6:35 am (exact time supplied by Coach Creguer’s Grandma!).  It turned out to be a high energy, grueling workout.  Come sunrise, the workout was terminated in favor of the view (the dawning of a new Bluejay season).  Then, it was another 1.6 mile run back to camp for breakfast (prepared by mom).  If hard work equals a successful season, it’s going to be a great year! I put together a short video of the Football team’s workout that morning.  The last part of the video is where Coach Creguer is giving the closing talk to the workout and after watching the Sunrise.  It’s pretty much inaudible due to the wind.  It is also located on my Youtube channel if you want to embed it on your page.
